Rosacea/Redness | Davie | Weston FL
Are you blushing or is that rosacea?
A skin disease characterized by redness of the skin, rosacea can cause a flushed appearance, acne-like bumps, or thickening skin that can damage a person’s self-esteem and sometimes cause physical pain. While the cause of rosacea is not yet well understood, nor can rosacea be cured, treatment is typically aimed at reducing the inflammation that is characteristic of the disease, and patients can enjoy years between flare-ups when under a dermatologist’s care. Rosacea is thought to be a genetic condition with certain groups more predisposed to it. Individual triggers vary, but some are related to the weather and the person’s diet. It’s especially important for those with rosacea to protect their skin from the elements and to keep track of the foods they eat in order to avoid future episodes.
In recent years, two aesthetic treatments have earned recognition for their ability to treat the signs of rosacea like redness caused from dilated blood vessels or thickened skin.
IPL

Spider Veins
IPL is also an effective treatment for unsightly facial spider veins. IPL works by selectively damaging or destroying small spider veins and small vascular birthmarks. The concentrated pulse of light generates heat and damages the blood vessel walls. The veins shrink and disappear as a result of treatment. IPL penetrates the unwanted vessel but does not damage or scar the surrounding tissue. Two to four treatments may be required depending on the number and size of the lesions.
