A Natural Method to Turn Back the Clock

Aging Skin
There are many factors that contribute to aging. Some are physical such as the environment, and some are internal, such as diet, genetics, etc. As the clock ticks forward, we may start to notice acne scarring, age spots, fine lines, wrinkles, etc. In addition to trying to reverse some of these signs, it is also incredibly helpful to begin preventative treatments to avert some of this damage from occurring in the first place.

What can we do about it?
As we age, we have to trigger our body to repair itself if we want to attempt to “turn back the clock”. Activation of fibroblasts and collagen synthesis are crucial factors in skin rejuvenation. These processes can be stimulated through multiple modalities, but one of the most common with the least amount of down-time is microneedling with PRP.

What is PRP?
Platelet Rich Plasma, a.k.a. PRP, is a component of your blood that aids in clotting and supporting cell growth. PRP has been utilized for 20+ years in heart surgery, sports medicine and wound care, finally reaching the aesthetic community within the last few years. PRP became wildly popular when Kim Kardashian posted photos of her undergoing a “Vampire Facial”. PRP with microneedling can be used to treat age spots (hyperpigmentation), wrinkles, scarring, etc.

The PRP Experience
Before
The treatment area will be treated with a topical numbing cream followed by a routine blood draw. The tube containing your blood is then placed into a centrifuge, which is a fancy machine that separates the platelets from the red blood cells, revealing what I like to call “liquid gold”. You will sit back and relax while your blood is spinning and await treatment.

During
Once the PRP is ready, your provider will begin opening tiny channels in the skin via microneedling and/or injection. The PRP is stamped into the skin during and will be massaged in following completion of treatment. The increased concentration of growth factors in PRP help to speed up the healing process and aid in cell turnover. These growth factors help to activate fibroblasts and stimulate collagen production. There is no chance of allergy with this treatment since the product is from your own body!

After
Downtime following this treatment is minimal and could include residual redness or swelling. The PRP will be left on the skin for a minimum of 6 hours. Avoid rigorous activity for at least 72 hours to minimize further irritation, swelling, or bruising. Benefits of PRP include improvement in texture and tone of the skin along with a reduction in the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and acne scars.

The Ageless Eraser
One of our signature treatments here at Ageless Medical is called the “Ageless Eraser”. This treatment combines the newest generation of radiofrequency microneedling with PRP. The topical application of PRP combined with the Vivace creates more skin tightness and accelerates healing time. This treatment is not only a patient favorite, but is also my personal go-to in office skin-care treatment! Give us a call today to schedule your complimentary consultation to see if the Ageless Eraser treatment is right for you!
